It’s time to update your headshot or up your branding game for your business. So; what comes next? Here are 5 tips to help you get started!

Finding Your Photographer: The first thing you want to do is connect with a photographer that works in the style that you are wanting to convey. Take a look at their website and social media pages-Does their work give you a clear idea of what their client does? Your photographs should not only make you feel confident but portray to your audience who you are and showcase brand clarity. Think about what makes you unique!
Create a Potential Shot List: Think about where and how you will be using your photographs. For example, if you are using your photos on your website or social media and need room for text, that is something that can be planned for! That way, you have beautiful images that are useful as well!
Here is an example Shot List:
-Headshot for About Me page
-Banner image with space for text
-Working in my office
-Content for Social Media
Prepare your Wardrobe: Does any of your clothing need alternating? Ill-fitting clothing can convey a sense of uncomfortableness in your photos. What you wear can say a lot about you and your brand. Remember, first impressions
matter! Look for complimentary colors that work well together AND with the background you are going to be using. Unsure of what to wear to your session?
Share with me your potential wardrobe choices and we can work through them together!

Hair & Makeup: Hair & Makeup can be a personal thing. While you may have the urge to cut your hair right before your photo session, make sure your haircut is scheduled well in advance so if last minute adjustments need to be made there is ample time. It is generally best to wear your hair down unless you wear your hair up 100% of the time. Wear the same amount of makeup that you would for a night out. Be sure to do a test run with how you are styling your hair and doing your makeup so that it looks the way you want it to and that you feel comfortable and confident.
-Glasses: If you wear glasses all of the time then it makes sense to wear them for your photo session. If you only wear them some of the time then I will take some photos of you wearing your glasses, with the posing that makes the most sense.
Include Branding Props: An important part of your branding session is choosing props that clarify your brand! We will choose your props when we book your session, so they can be incorporated easily. Look at your brand research and think about what would help us tell your story! Think about things that showcase your

personality and help tell your story. Do you have an item that has special meaning to you? Let’s include it!!
Now that you’re prepared for your photo session, here are a few last minute things to remember:
